SmartPanel™ is strong, versatile, and ‘greener’ than material previously used for furniture. We have found SmartPanel™ suitable for TV stands, Desks, Storage Solutions, and almost all categories of consumer furnishings.

How does Altra keep SmartPanel™ affordable? We use engineered wood board made up entirely of post-production offal and sawdust – no virgin forest material here – that would have otherwise been categorized as waste. Since these “waste” materials are purchased for less than virgin forest materials the added costs of reconstitution are offset, resulting in eco-conscious raw materials without breaking the bank.

70% Post Production Offal

SmartPanel™ consists of 70% post-production offal, or scrap parts that are an inevitable result of any production. Instead of deeming offal as waste, SmartPanel™ utilizes offal for 70% of its raw material content.

30% Sawdust

Nearly 1/3 of SmartPanel™ (30% to be exact) is made up of sawdust, or small board particles that are released when a saw cuts through board to achieve the size or shape needed for the part being produced.

0% Virgin Forest Materials

Traditional methods of making engineered wood usually uses various amount of virgin forest material, SmartPanel™ does not use any virgin forest material. SmartPanel™ is instead made up of 100% recycled and reused raw materials, making it the eco-friendly choice for anyone who wants to lend Mother Nature a helping hand.

Affordability

Perhaps the most unique aspect of SmartPanel™ is that it costs no more than the ready to assembly furniture you already buy! Bamboo and FSC Certified Wood are great eco-friendly options, but they carry a large price tag. SmartPanel™’s lower raw material costs offset additional reconstitution costs, giving you a green option you can afford. Here are a few ways we suggest you spend your SmartPanel™ savings:

• Buy a tree and plant it with the family on the weekend
• Recaulk around windows and doors to eliminate drafts and save energy
• Use Zero-VOC paint when you redecorate the next room in your house
• Have your heating and cooling systems checked by a professional prior to peak seasons
• Install a ceiling fan to allow you to turn the A/C down
